Community Benefit Society Membership
Information about CBS membership
FoodLoose Ltd is a Community Benefit Society. This means we are owned and controlled by our members.
Our members were initially investors who enabled us to expand and move premises. As investments are withdrawn or donated we need a way to retain Community Benefit Society members and enable new ones .
We welcome anyone to become a member who lives in the UK, is over 16yrs, shops with FoodLoose and supports our objectives to provide the local population with minimally packaged, ethically-sourced food and consumables.
As a member, you will be invited to take part in making decisions about the society at Annual General meetings, based on the co-operative principle of “one member, one vote”. You may also stand for election and vote on candidates for the Board of Directors, who govern the society’s day-to-day operations.
Members hold shares in the society as part of their membership. Each share is worth £1 and you need to hold a minimum of 10 shares (i.e. £10) in order to become a member. As a member of the society, your liability is limited to your shareholding. The membership share is non-withdrawable and non-transferable.
To become a member you can fill in the application form.
Once membership is agreed by the Board of Directors, you will be invoiced for the total amount owed, and issued with a membership certificate upon payment. You will receive notification of general meetings by email.
